Going to use on a steel roof 1. can I use with a drop chord and 2. is there a better fastener for the steel roof application.

Hello, a drop cord is not required as the unit is plug and play. If you choose to use a drop cord we recommend onsite guidance from an electrician. The hardware provided allows fastening on various surfaces including steel. Thank you for your questions.

would this cable de-icer come with a regulator? For instance to control the heat of the cable starting below 40 degrees.
