Was given a brand new long handle rigid 18 months ago. Felt very light which was great but then cracks appeared after a couple of months. Snapped within a year and a half. Tried to contact rigid but no reply -

Today I broke my Rigid Long Shank Shovel after more than 30 years use. I bought the shovel at Home Depot, Santa Rosa, CA, in mid 1980's and have used it hard over the years, but today I pushed too hard trying dig up a bush. I will try to find another hickory handle so I can resurrect my old friend - I get attached to my tools. I retired in 2004 and now live in the beautiful Black Hill of SD. Until today, I have continued using my buddy hard and he did not let me down - I just pushed too hard. Will also see if I can find another just like this one to use for most jobs, fix this one as best I can and retire it to lesser work.
