INSUL-TUBE® is used to retard heat gain and prevent condensation or frost formation on refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing, and chilled water systems. It also retards heat flow for hot water plumbing, liquid heating, dual temperature piping, and many solar systems. Designed for the HVAC and Refrigeration industry. INSUL-TUBE® is non-porous, non-fibrous and resists mold growth. An EPA registered antimicrobial agent is incorporated into the product providing additional protection against mold, fungal and bacterial growth. INSUL-TUBE® Pipe Insulation is made from a UV resistant elastomeric blend. For moderate UV exposure, no additional protective coating is needed. However, for severe UV exposure (rooftop applications) or where optimum performance is required, 374 Protective Coating or approved jacketing or cladding should be used.

You said: "The Insulation Nominal I.D. of 1 5/8 is equivalent to Copper Tube Size (Nom. I.D. Plumbing) of 1 1/2." Okay - then what Insul-Tube Nominal I.D. do I need for copper plumbing pipe with Nom I.D. size of 3/4" ? This common size of copper pipe has an actual O.D. of 1.050" and is the pipe I need to insulate with thick-wall Insul-Tube. Thanks again for your help and attention.

The Nom. I.D. of this insulation is given as 1 5/8" What does this mean? Usually, for pipe, Nom ID is the NPS Pipe Size. However, there is no NPS standard pipe size for 1 5/8" pipe. Does this mean that the inside diameter of this insulation is approx. 1.625" ? Also, this insulation is described as being "With Core." You have similar Insul-Tube insulation "Without Core." What does this mean? What is a "core"? Thanks very much for your help and attention.

The Insulation Nominal I.D. of 1 5/8 is equivalent to Copper Tube Size (Nom. I.D. Plumbing) of 1 1/2. Regarding the With Core and Without Core, these are offered on our larger insulation sizes. With Core simply means there is a round cardboard insert inside the insulation. This cardboard insert holds the shape of the ID. Due to the weight of the wall, ¿Without Core¿ will tend to flatten in packaging and shipment. Both will operate equally.
