I have not used it yet although the spreader seems very sturdy with no wobble. I'll try tightening the bolts - it is a 10 mm (not 8 mm as per the instructions). Also I'll try bending the cotter pin so it is more of an elongated "twist pin" configuration. Most importantly - the gear box was noisy - so make sure to spray in silicone lubricant as that is the recommended lubrication since it doesn't trap dirt. So I opened up the plastic covering and then once I sprayed in the silicone lubrication - then the gear box was smooth and quiet. Also spray some in the bushings on the axle. -

This is my second spreader like this and its awesome. We use it to salt our large parking lot in Buffalo NY where we get a lot of snow. I empty 2 - 50lb bags into it and I can do my entire lot. I highly recommend it for rock salt. -

Can you use this spreader with sand and compost mix or sand only. Also does it provide settings with common fertilizers

Hello Ben, sand, fertilizer, or a mix should not be a problem. Our only recommendation is to not use anything with a large grain such as gravel or woodchips, and to watch the capacity. Thank you for your interest in our product.
