Hello David, this fan cannot be wired to a variable speed control. We recommend global model 248448A, which is the 3 speed version of this fan. Thank you for your question.

NO. The fan is intended to be permanently hard wired to properly rated electrical service outlet. It can¿t be used with a plug that you can plug it in and out.
