Very Nice Workbench

Your review: This workbench top is awesome! I installed it on top of a workbench I built 2 years ago, discarding the previous plywood and masonite top. It wes delivered on time, and no issues with damage as it was very well packed and protected. I would highly recommend this maple top to anyone who has a shop.

Maple bench top

Your review: Very good bench top - heavy duty, flat, square, sturdy. Arrived in a well protected box. Quick delivery. Bottom surface has a few imperfections but top surface is good & smooth. Minimal sanding before finishing with polyurethane. You have to let finish dry a few days to let the top reset to flat as finishing one side causes the block surface to bow a bit when finish soaks into the wood.

If this is what you need-here it is!

Your review: These maple bench tops are quality products. They are strong, well finished and meet our demanding needs. In our laboratories we use a lot of lead for shielding, etc., and these tops hold a couple hundred pounds and more, with no deflection, or cracking. I have been using these for 15 years of building labs for my company, and have never had a problem. I wouldn't use anything else. BTW: Global has a great price, and good, fast service. We have switched from ******* for these tops and are very happy.

Bench top

Your review: Arrived quickly, however, for some reason there were several staples sticking up on underside. Nice product

There is a question about "staining" the table top darker and the answer is: "not recommended". I understand that it voids the warranty, but besides that, why not isn't it recommended? Thank you.

Can I stain this top a darker color? What steps will need to be taken? Will the mineral oil finish have to be sanded off?

Answer This Question

I recently purchased this product and did notice the fact that it has a mineral oil finish and has to be oiled on both sides at least every month. My question is can I apply several coats of a sealer to completely seal the wood so I wont have to do the oiling. Since this is a workbench top, oil would really mess up any wood project that you might be working on.

I was about ready to install this top on a assembly table I made and noticed that the top is warped. The long length is convex slightly. How would you recommend I try to correct this since I can't use it as an assembly top unless it is dead flat. I thought of trying to sand it and even gluing a sandwich of MDF or plywood on the top and bottom. It would ruin the beautiful look of the top but I need something that is flat. Any suggestions?
